This thin piece of felt-y cardboard has it’s own part number.

Kinja'd!!!

what the fuck does this piece o shit do? oh, captioning images that’s new

Kinja'd!!!

That’s where it came from. I’m not sure what they intended it to be, but I stick my keys down there when I’m driving.

Keyless entry FTW.

It’s only half KESSY though, which sorta defeats the purpose.

I have to unlock the car with the fob, then I just awkwardly jam it somewhere.

Lame.

Some Benzes have the keyless door entry but then you have to turn the ignition with the keyfob which is a bit funny. My mom’s Fusion, you can keep the key in your pocket and just press start/lock unlock

It was probably a cost cutting thing. The Sport model was a mixture of shit from other trims, (Sel, GLI.... etc)

Ill admit, the first time I drove one of those, it took me a minute to find the start button.

Since the key is still the conventional switchblade style that they’ve been using since 1999, it confuses quite a few people.

I let somebody drive me car who had NO DAMN CLUE how to use the key. She tried putting it in the non existent ignition with the blade not even out, then she tried it with the blade out. Then after I got bored of watching her be confused, I just told her about the start button.

I looked for the keyhole on the column, then on the dash on the right, then left, then console ala Saab. Thats when I saw the little button lol

I’m not sure what I did, I think I was checking to make sure it was in neutral then I just so came across the button that starts the car.

Day whatever it is and I still want to know why VW didn’t put full KESSY on this thing.

I love being able to just grab the door handle to unlock the doors

That’s a tremendously broken system, right there. You don’t bother with keyless doors if you don’t do keyless ignition because you will need the keys in your hand to start the car, anyhow.

The Fusion is doing it right.

Agreed. It boggled my mind those few times I’ve driven a Benz with that kind of setup.

It’s to avoid rattling noises when you put keys or coins in that little tray. And it gives a more “premium” touch.

I know what it is, I just found it strange they gave it a part number.

Yeah at least Volkswagen’s is silver and stands out, whereas that one is hidden. Nice job Ford.
